1. Who we are
Baseline (“Baseline,” “we,” “us”) is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [ADDRESS]. These terms govern your use of [DOMAIN] and the Baseline newsletter.
2. The service
Baseline summarizes news coverage from third-party outlets and links to them. Summaries are produced with the help of AI and may contain errors. Baseline is for general information only and is not professional, legal, financial or medical advice. Check important details against the cited sources.
3. Accounts
You must be at least [13/16] years old to create an account. You're responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your email account secure, since sign-in links are sent there.
4. Paid plans
- Plus ($4.99/month or $49.99/year) and Pro ($9.99/month or $99.99/year) renew automatically each month or year, on the date you subscribed, until you cancel. Prices are in U.S. dollars and may exclude taxes.
- You can cancel anytime from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep paid features until then. [State refund policy, e.g. “Payments are non-refundable except where required by law.”]
- Plus includes 1 Baseline It check per billing period. Pro includes 5 checks per billing period and access to the Pro Library. Checks made on either plan are added to the Pro Library. A check counts only when it produces a baseline. Opening an article already in the Pro Library doesn't use a check. Unused checks don't roll over.
- We may change prices with at least [30] days' notice by email; changes apply from your next billing period.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't store your card details.
5. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no automated scraping of Baseline, no attempts to get around plan limits or access controls, no submitting links to unlawful content, and no reselling Baseline content without permission.
6. Content and intellectual property
Baseline's summaries, design and software belong to us. News articles we link to belong to their publishers. You may share links to Baseline and brief excerpts with attribution for personal, non-commercial use.
7. Third-party sites
Baseline links to other websites we don't control. We aren't responsible for their content or practices.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including accuracy and fitness for a particular purpose, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the [12] months before the claim. [Attorney to tailor to jurisdiction.]
9. Termination
You can delete your account anytime. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE, e.g. Idaho], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. [Dispute resolution clause.]
11. Changes
We'll post changes here and email you about material ones. Continuing to use Baseline after changes take effect means you accept them.
